Bolu is the regional center for the western Black Sea region. It is a thriving commercial city providing a cultural base from which to explore the area. Bolu is also within daily traveling distance to several ski resorts in the mountains to the south.

The Black Sea region is not the first vacation destination that springs to mind when planning a touring holiday in Turkey. However, the few tourists who venture here are rewarded with some of the most breathtaking scenery Turkey has to offer, as well as vivid contrasts between the clear waters of the Black Sea, the pine covered mountains and the semi-desert regions of the high plateau.

A region as rich in the history of the Byzantine period as the ancient remains of the Greek and Roman periods in the south west.
